While April gave us a chance to spotlight our environmental efforts, we believe this work should continue year-round. At DSC, responsible practices are built into how we operate every day. Protecting our shared planet and ensuring the long-term viability of the foam supply chain are critical to our business, our partners, and the communities we serve. We’re committed to continuous progress, with a clear goal to reduce our carbon emissions 50% (scope 1 and 2) by the end of 2025 and continue moving thoughtfully toward net zero.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint: How We’re Making it Happen

Reducing Fossil Fuels, Rethinking Waste.

Across our business, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce emissions and minimize our environmental impact. We continue to explore more sustainable materials, including foams made with non-food-sourced bio content like castor bean oil, algae, and spent coffee grounds. By recycling foam and rubber scraps from our own production, we’re working to reduce waste and reliance on fossil fuels. Some of our materials, like our DREAMCELL® Zero foam contain up to 100% recycled content, helping support our partners in their efforts to lower the carbon footprint of their supply chains. Each step moves us closer to a more circular and responsible approach to material innovation.

Investing in Smarter Systems to Reduce Water and Energy Use

On the factory floor, we’ve invested in equipment upgrades that reduce both water and energy consumption. We’ve expanded the use of solar panels across our main manufacturing facilities to reduce reliance on fossil fuels—an investment we believe will contribute to meaningful carbon savings over time.

We are also implementing a combination of water-saving technologies and rainwater harvesting systems to reduce our dependence on freshwater. As we continue to scale this infrastructure, we project up to an 80% reduction in freshwater use by the end of 2025, a meaningful step in our commitment to responsible resource management.

Delivering Sustainability Through Reusable Packaging

Our sustainability efforts also extend to packaging, where our Green Box Program replaces single-use cardboard with durable, reusable boxes for local-to-local deliveries—each one designed to be reused 17 times or more, significantly reducing waste.

Building Trust Through Verified Standards

To support transparency and accountability, we work with trusted third-party organizations to certify our sustainability practices and ensure alignment with internationally recognized standards. As part of this effort, we’ve achieved ISO 14067 Material Carbon Footprint Certification, allowing us to clearly communicate the carbon impact of our products and demonstrate our commitment to reduction. Our approach also includes certifications such as ISO 14064, GRS, Intertek, and HIGG FEM—each playing a role in strengthening traceability and building confidence across the supply chain.

Empowering Our Team, Staying Informed

Beyond production and operations, we believe education plays a key role in driving meaningful change. We provide sustainability training and workshops across our workforce to ensure that responsible practices are understood and embraced at every level of the company. As members of the FDRA, we also stay actively informed on the latest issues, trends, and best practices in traceability and sustainability—especially within the footwear industry, where we continue to grow and contribute.
